The objective of this project is to undertake a technology assessment of the Microgrid System to both describe and quantify its benefits in terms of life-cycle performance, energy efficiency and environmental impact. On-site measurements and data analysis to demonstrate these benefits will also be recommended. This assessment will provide a baseline for comparing the proposed Microgrid System against conventional generation approaches (i.e., centralized electricity generation and heating) and against future, more advanced, distributed power generation units.The end result of this technology assessment will be a series of recommendations that will allow NextEnergy to plan for future expansion of the Microgrid Demonstration using a quantitative measure of the Microgrid System's performance and an understanding of future distributed power generation technology options.
